About the Brazos Family Medicine Residency Program

The goal of our residency is to train physicians skilled in providing continuing and comprehensive personal care to patients and their families. The program includes education in all areas of family medicine: adult medicine, maternal and child health, behavioral science, surgical specialties and community medicine. It emphasizes the value of wellness and preventive medicine as well as curative medicine and provides an opportunity for residents to work with other members of the health care team.

The residency program is organized as a progressive educational experience with increasing patient responsibilities over the three years of training as residents develop clinical skills and demonstrate medical judgment and competence. The training program consists of formal teaching and clinical experiences on assigned rotations, patient care in the Family Practice Center, and structured conferences. Our community has diverse medical resources available for educational use by the residents. The residency asks the residents to take responsibility for their learning environment and to work with the faculty in making their experience the best possible.
